George Karpyshyn

July 1, 1940 ~ August 20, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved Dad, Gedo, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle & friend to all. The Oilers didn’t win the cup, and haying isn’t done, but George’s mind and body were tired, and we are sure that Irene was yelling at him to “hurry up and get here”. When she passed in 2019, his life changed.

George is survived by his daughter, Eva (Allen) Preston; & son, Anthony (Jennifer) Karpyshyn; loving grandsons, James (Jenna) Preston, Mathew (Alanna) Preston & Andrew Karpyshyn; great-grandsons, Jack & Hayes Preston. He is also survived by his loving sister, Marion Hadies; brother-in-laws, Peter Goruk, Eddie Jober, Harry Shapka & Peter Flondra (Mary); sister-in-laws, Shirley Mastaler & Grace (Don) Spurgeon; along with many loving nieces & nephews. He goes home to the arms of his loving wife, Irene; parents, Eva & Andrew Karpyshyn; brothers, Steve & Andy Karpyshyn; sister, Olga Shapka; brothers-in-law, Mickey Hades & Henry Flondra; sisters-in-law, Lucy Goruk, Elizabeth Jober & Rose Karpyshyn.
