A full recount was conducted this morning after an error was found during the verification process of the unofficial results earlier in the week. The candidates and/or their scrutineers were given the opportunity to witness the recount. The results are below.

“We thank all of the candidates for their patience and support as we undertook the recount,” said Returning Officer Stephanie Severin. “Doing the recount was in the best interest of the municipality and all of those involved in the 2025 Municipal Election. It was important to show residents and candidates that the M.D. is open and transparent and that we are dedicated to keeping and earning their trust.”

Council will continue their orientation sessions on Monday. Swearing in will take place during the first meeting of the 2025-2029 Council on October 28, 2025, which starts with the annual Organizational Meeting, followed by a Regular Meeting of Council.

Live updates will be posted at x.com/mdbville. Council Highlights and a recording of the meeting will be made available by end of day Friday, October 31. While there was an increase in voters taking advantage of Advance Voting Days, the overall number of residents casting a vote (3,280) fell by just over 800 in comparison to the 2021 Municipal Election. This year, the M.D. saw a 37% voter turnout, based on the eligible voters on the Permanent Electors Register.
