Police chase sees suspects flee on foot, three arrested

Three people are facing charges after multiple detachments were involved in a pursuit of a suspect. 

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, as the St. Paul RCMP assisted Bonnyville RCMP with a pursuit that entered St. Paul’s Detachment area.  

Mounties from St. Paul successfully used a tire deflation device on the suspect vehicle which became disabled, causing the driver and passengers to flee on foot near Range Road 91 and Highway 29, east of St. Paul.  

Two suspects were arrested a short time later after a brief foot chase.  

Police say the third suspect was arrested several hours later after a concerned citizen called advising a suspicious person was observed in their yard.  

St. Paul RCMP attended and arrested the third female suspect without further incident.

Kannan Desjarlais, 26, of Cold Lake has been charged with Flight from police, Dangerous operation of a vehicle, Operation of a vehicle while prohibited, and resisting arrest.  

He was remanded after a judicial interim release hearing and his next court date is set for November 2.

Jaylin Favel, 20, of Cold Lake has been charged with resisting arrest and failing to comply with a release order. She was remanded after a judicial interim release hearing and her next court date is set for November 2.

Michelle Watchmaker, 31, has been charged with resisting arrest and was released with no financial obligation after a judicial interim release hearing. Her next court date is set for November 28th, 2023.
