Three separate attempted assault on police officers have been reported by the St. Paul RCMP in the month of October.

Saddle Lake man charged with numerous offenses

On October 17, at roughly 10:30pm, St. Paul RCMP members located a vehicle that had been stolen from a residence in Myrnam after a robbery earlier in the night.

RCMP attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle while it was found parked. The vehicle then fled nearly running over the approaching RCMP officer, police say.

The vehicle collided with a stop sign and drove rapidly into St. Paul, running a red light and driving dangerously while attempting to evade police.

The vehicle went through town and drove through a fence on a rural property before RCMP terminated the pursuit for public safety reasons, they say.

The vehicle was located later that evening abandoned in the north end in the town of St Paul.  The suspects were located a short distance from the vehicle and were arrested without further incident.

Frank Jackson, 25 year-old of Saddle Lake, has been charged with numerous offences including Flight from police, Assault with a weapon on a police officer, fail to comply with demand (Alcohol) and four counts of Mischief under $5000

He is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on November 9.

Saddle Lake woman faces series of charges

A Saddle Lake woman is facing a series of charges after being spotted in a fleeing vehicle from a previous investigation.

The situation happened on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6:30pm. While police were on patrols, they say they saw a vehicle that fled RCMP the night before on 49th Avenue.

A traffic stop was initiated and several occupants fled from the vehicle and into a nearby residence.

The officer confronted one of the occupants who had a bottle of vodka and a can of bear spray in their hands. Police say the woman was directed to put the bear spray down and refused to do so.

The woman pointed the bear spray at the officer, at which time he used pepper spray on the female.

While doing so, the female attempted and was partially successful in spraying the officer with the bear spray.

Additional members arrived on scene and helped in arresting the female.

The investigation revealed that the female was also the driver of the vehicle the previous night in which it fled from members.

Brittany Morin, 31, of Saddle Lake was released on a $1000 promise to pay after a judicial interim release hearing.

She is facing numerous charges including Assault with a weapon on a police officer, Flight from police, Resist arrest, and Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

She is scheduled to appear in court on November 16.

Police officer threatened by Saddle Lake man

A police officer was threatened, RCMP says, on October 14th as a road was blocked into Saddle Lake.

The officer got out of the vehicle and was threatened, RCMP say, by the man with a liquor bottle.

The man smashed the bottle, attempting to start a fight.

Police say they issued commands that were ignored. The police officer then used a taser to subdue the man.

Devon James Quinney, 24, of Saddle Lake faces three charges including Uttering threats, Assault on a police officer, and Stunting.

He was released from custody on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16.

RCMP say neither the suspect of the officer were injured.
