A man is in stable condition after being shot in the neck in Saddle Lake on Oct. 8, 2025.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Saddle Lake RCMP received a report of the shooting and quickly responded. Officers arrested a suspect soon after the call, with assistance from additional RCMP units. A second suspect was taken into custody later in the day but has not been charged in connection with the incident.

The victim was first taken to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to Edmonton, where he remains in stable condition.

Charges laid
Police have charged 28-year-old Bailey Christopher Mason of Edmonton with several offences, including:

  • Aggravated assault

  • Discharge firearm with intent

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Careless use of a firearm

  • Breaking and entering with intent – residence

  • Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization (x6)

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized

Mason was held for a judicial hearing and remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15, 2025, at the Cold Lake Court of Justice.
