Volleyball player Halle Blocha commits to Ambrose University
Another Bonnyville athlete will be pursuing new heights athletically.
Halle Blocha, a Grade 12 student at École Notre Dame High School has committed to Ambrose University in Calgary to play college-level volleyball.
“It all aspired in my grade 11 year at provincials when my coach from Ambrose came and introduced himself and the idea to play post-secondary,” said Halle Blocha.
“I’ve been playing volleyball since grade five so I was 12, and just starting at Dr. Brosseau and practicing with teachers and Scott Cameron who would be our opponent, Baby Rhinos was formed and I’ve been playing with them ever since.”
The Rhinos Volleyball Club is a Northeast Alberta premier volleyball club that competes within the Alberta Volleyball Association. Scott Cameron is the club’s president and coach.
“I enjoy the interactions with my teammates and the people who I normally wouldn’t interact with, even going to premiers and noticing how other teams have grown and you get to see where they go as well,” said Blocha.
Blocha will go on to join the Ambrose Lions and attend school at Ambrose University taking a four-year degree in behavioural science.
Ambrose competes in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). Last season, they finished first in the South Division with a 13-6 record.
Her advice to young athletes looking to pursue their goals: “Keep your head in it and stay focused on your goal and do as you want to do.”
