Bonnyville RCMP Briefs

It was a busy week for the Mounties in Bonnyville.

From April 16 to April 21, the police had 149 calls for service with lots of traffic enforcement happening around the Lakeland Region as the weather turns nice.

On Friday, April 16 at approximately 10:35 p.m., a person reported that a female had stolen his vehicle when she was visiting their residence and that the female was driving around intoxicated. The Mounties located and arrested the woman for taking the vehicle without consent.

The police conducted a breathalyzer test, the driver blew and failed. She was released on an appearance notice with the appropriate provincial documents.

On April 17 a man reported his truck was stolen sometime overnight from his driveway on Range Road 465 near Twp 611. The truck is a blue 2006 Ford F350. Anyone with any information on this theft is asked to report it to the Bonnyville RCMP.

The Mounties are also investigating a break and enter to a seasonal property with a one-week time delay. An off-duty Edmonton Police Service member checked cabins near Minnie Lake and found several sheds that had been broken into. A green John Deere model D110 tractor was taken from one of the sheds. Any information concerning this theft can be reported to the Bonnyville RCMP.

On April 19 there were reports that suspects entered the property belonging to Lakeland Respiratory on 52nd Avenue in Bonnyville. The suspects then rummaged through multiple campers in the yard. Police say that one camper door was damaged and that nothing appeared to be taken. The suspect was scared off by a police car driving by. The Mounties say it does not appear that anything of value was stolen from the campers.

On Thursday, April 22, the police removed an alleged drunk driver from the streets of Bonnyville. At approximately 7:30 p.m., a 22-year-old Bonnyville female reported that she was involved in a motor vehicle accident with another vehicle. During the investigation, the female failed the standard sobriety testing and was subsequently dealt with under the applicable provincial sanctions. She was subject to a 30-day vehicle seizure, a $1000 fine, and an automatic licence suspension.

On Friday afternoon, April 21, while conducting a traffic initiative on Lakeshore Drive, a person was pulled over for being on his cellphone while driving. Upon investigation, the Mounties determined that the 43-year-old male driver from Bonnyville was suspended, and the vehicle was also not insured or registered. The vehicle was towed and police say violation tickets were given.
