September 28, 1980  –  July 12, 2026

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Matthew Sartain of Bonnyville, Alberta, passed away at the age of 45 years.

 

Matt was a man who embraced life with a vibrant and adventurous spirit. An infectious smile and a unique sense of humor. In Matts youth he was a well-rounded athlete playing Football, track and Field and Soccer. He was happiest when he was outdoors—whether he was camping under the stars or spending the weekend on the water during those beautiful summer days. Matt loved all thing’s Harley Davidson and NFL He was a passionate sports fan, and there was always a soundtrack of great music playing nearby. Anybody who truly knew Matt knew that he was a big fan of music that brought nostalgia and happy days. Matt also had a soft spot for animals, finding quiet comfort in their companionship. Matt’s greatest attribute was he helped those he held close whether it be friends or family. He loved all his children, parents, nieces and nephews they kept him going through every day of his life, and spending the time he could with them was his greatest JOY. His warmth, laughter, and free spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

 

Matt is lovingly survived by his Children: Tylor (Kelly), Brittany, Alese, Izahia, Madison, Isabella, Jaxen; Granddaughter: Rose; Mother: Linda Bo; Father: Terry (Sue) Sartain; Siblings: Trever (Sandy) Gilbert, Kevin (Stacy) Sartain; Niece & Nephews: Tyson Gilbert, Mason, Caleb & Peyton Sartain; Mothers of his Children: Amanda & Daphne; As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.

 

Matthew was predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents: Myrtle & Stanley Sartain; Maternal Grandparents: Beverly and Alfred Walcott.

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Pioneer Hall in Bonnyville, Alberta. Doors open at 2:30.
