Construction crews are busy at the English Bay Treaty Grounds as preparations continue for this year’s Treaty Days celebrations.
In a public notice, Cold Lake First Nations said improvements are currently underway at the site to help prepare the grounds for community members and visitors attending the annual event.
Residents are being asked to use caution around the area while construction is ongoing and to avoid entering active work zones.
According to the notice, heavy equipment, construction materials and other work activities are present on site and may pose safety hazards.
Cold Lake First Nations is also reminding people to stay away from fallen trees and brush piles throughout the area, noting that they can be unstable and pose a risk of injury.
The work is part of ongoing efforts to prepare the grounds for Treaty Days, one of the community’s largest annual gatherings.
Officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during construction and said they look forward to unveiling the completed improvements in time for the celebrations.
“Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as we work to prepare the grounds for another memorable Treaty Days celebration,” the notice states.
