RCMP are warning residents after a spike in vehicle break-ins targeting Hyundai models, with multiple incidents reported in a single day.
On April 30, 2026, Lloydminster RCMP received several reports of vehicles being damaged in a similar way. In each case, suspects broke a window to gain entry and attempted to steal the vehicle. Police say all vehicles targeted so far have been Hyundai models.
The investigations are ongoing, and RCMP are now asking for the public’s help to identify those responsible.
Police urge prevention as trend continues
With this pattern emerging, RCMP are encouraging residents to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles. Suggested measures include:
- Using a steering wheel lock such as “The Club”
- Always locking your vehicle
- Never leaving keys or valuables inside
- Keeping belongings out of sight or secured in the glove box or trunk
- Installing front and rear dash cameras
- Adding home surveillance cameras where vehicles are parked
- Considering aftermarket immobilizers or GPS tracking devices
- Parking in well-lit areas whenever possible
- Reporting suspicious activity immediately

RCMP are also asking anyone who may have dash cam or surveillance footage showing a vehicle window being broken to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400.
