On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Darren Forsyth of Spruce Grove, AB, passed away at the age of 50 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, Darren’s strength, humour, and unwavering devotion to those he loved remained constant.
Darren will always be loved and remembered by his wife, Laurie McGilvray, who was his partner in every sense of the word. He is also deeply missed by his brothers, Keith Forsyth Jr. and Randy Forsyth (Sara); his nieces and nephews; Kyle, Savannah, Austin, Sierra, and Kalen; his mother‑in‑law, Susan McGilvray; his brother‑in‑law, Bruce McGilvray, and many aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
A special place in Darren’s heart belonged to his dog, Arlo, his loyal companion who brought him comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. Their bond was a bright thread woven through Darren’s days, especially in the hardest moments.
Darren was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Elaine Forsyth, and his father‑in‑law, Ken McGilvray, his maternal grandparents; Shirley and Tadeusz “Ted” Kopala and his paternal grandparents; Florence and Albert Forsyth.
Known for his dedication to service, his loyalty to friends, and his love of good times, Darren lived with a generosity of spirit that touched everyone around him. He had a gift for bringing people together, creating laughter, and offering support in ways both big and small. His presence made life brighter, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
