Water bombers filling up at Marie Lake to fight wildfire
Water bombers continue to work on extinguishing the wildfire at the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range area, refilling at Marie Lake on Thursday morning.
The fire is believed to start raging late morning on Wednesday, and has caused an evacuation of the CLAWR, and limited access to Primrose Lake.
According to Alberta Wildfire, the wildfire as of 8:00AM was as large as 1200 hectares, but some reports indicate it has grown much larger, as winds towards the northeast continue to blow.
Meanwhile, the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority issued a Fire Advisory this morning. Any burning without a valid fire permit — other than a campfire — is prohibited.
Cold Lake First Nations has been updating members of the fire’s severity and whereabouts, as nation members prepare for Treaty Day celebrations at English Bay campgrounds Friday to Sunday.
