Numerous fraud attempts in St. Paul: Weekly Report
Over the past week, the St. Paul RCMP responded to 168 calls for service and executed 23 warrants for arrest.
The St. Paul RCMP have received numerous complaints recently of fraudulent activity and attempted frauds. Most of these are occurring over the phone or email, with scammers impersonating business representatives and attempting to get personal information or money from victims.
RCMP are reminding the public to be vigilant against scam calls. Some red flags to watch for are: asking for payment in gift cards, making aggressive demands, and requesting the victim to avoid talking to others or their bank about the situation.
If you receive an email or phone call that you think may be a scam, hang up or do not respond. Do not ever release any personal or banking information. If someone is asking you to purchase a large amount of gift cards, do not buy them or send the codes to anyone.
