Injuries sustained in collision with pickup truck semi

A man has suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries stemming from a collision with a semi truck.

Cold Lake RCMP say a two vehicle collision happened on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 5:22pm on Highway 55 near Range Road 414.

Police say it was reported that a pickup truck, travelling eastbound on Highway 55 collided head-on with a semi, which was travelling westbound. 

Witnesses and physical evidence suggest that the pickup truck crossed the centre line into the westbound lane, RCMP say, and collided head on with the semi.

Emergency services used the jaws of life to extricated the male driver from the pickup, where he was taken to Cold Lake Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. 

Given the large amount of debris on the roadway, traffic was temporarily diverted up 412 to 610. Cold Lake RCMP say alcohol and drugs were not a factor.
