More details about what a major recreation facility in St. Paul could like will be revealed soon.

Mayor Maureen Miller said the final feasibility study will be brought to council at their next meeting, scheduled for Jan. 22.

In September 2023, consultants Expedition Management Consulting Ltd presented to the Town and County of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point, and Horseshoe Bay, with then questions and feedback given to fine tune.

“The purpose of doing that whole process is we’ve been asked many times, you know, why don’t we have a major indoor facility,” Miller told Lakeland Connect.

“We now have that study brought back. We had sent it back for them to language clearer. And so now the municipalities know if there was to be built a facility, what the facility would cost, what the operations would cost, what the debenture would be, what the return on the investment would be.”

The centre may include an NHL-sized rink and fieldhouse, and other amenities like a walking track and weightroom.
