Stolen truck located in Kehewin as charges are laid
A 30-year-old is facing charges after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Wednesday, Sept. 27th, between midnight and 4:00AM, a red 2004 GMC Sierra was stolen out of Bonnyville.
RCMP in Cold Lake received a report of a sighting of the vehicle at noon later that same day and again an hour later but were not able to locate it.
When it was spotted later in the Bonnyville area, the vehicle fled when they tried to pull them over.
On Friday, Sept. 29th at 8:30 AM Bonnyville members located the vehicle in a driveway in Kehewin. Police say that members blocked it in and found a male sleeping inside in the driver’s seat with a machete within reach.
The male was arrested and taken into custody for being in possession of the stolen truck.
Patrick Cardinal, 30, of Cold Lake is charged with Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5000, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Disobeying a Court Order.
He was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.
His next court date is October 17th.
