Waskatenau man who started Booster Juice, now a Stanley Cup champ with Vegas

A man with ties to the Lakeland area is part of the Stanley Cup winning Vegas Golden Knights. 

Dale Wishewan hails from the Village of Waskatenau, Alberta, which many motorists pass by on Highway 28.  

Wishewan’s claim to fame is starting Booster Juice back in 1999 in Sherwood Park, where he now resides. 

As that franchise sprouted to what it is today, the venture of sports ownership, and being part of a new franchise, became an opportunity. 

Through a mutual friend in 2016, Wishewan was put in contact with Bill Foley, the man who convinced NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to bring hockey to Las Vegas. 

Wishewan took a chance and bought a minority stake, which he has never disclosed the amount nor how much he paid. 

A neat bit of foresight, Wishewan also got a slice of T-Mobile Arena, which has fast become perhaps the most theatrical of all hockey venues in North America. 

On Tuesday night, the Golden Knights routed the Florida Panthers 9-3 to secure the Stanley Cup in just their sixth season. 

Wisheman could be supporting a new piece of hardware that is hard to get – a Stanley Cup ring.
