Camper Subsidy Program gives pizzas to help kids get to camp
A pizza fundraiser is helping local kids get into summer camps.
Little Caesars has teamed up with Camp Whitney to help lower income families be able to send their kids for a summer experience.
The Camper Subsidy Program started last year, where they helped ten local kids attend Camp Whitney, outside of Elk Point.
“We’re hoping to do more this year,” said Megan Tetlock, volunteer and fundraising coordinator.
“It’s putting funds into an area where we can cover the costs of kids who wouldn’t financially be able to come to camp. So parents with multiple kids or kids that have no means to come to camp – we don’t want to say no to them, or not have a spot for them. So by providing funds for this program, we are able to cover some of them or all of the cost.”
The hope is to raise $1000 this go around.
How it works is that those who want to help with pizzas is to go to pizzakit.ca and order with the camp ID is 420838.
There are deliveries for those all around in the Lakeland area from March 12-17. That includes stretching as far as Elk Point, Vermilion, Mannville, and with group orders to Bonnyville and St. Paul, who they are looking for delivery drivers right now.
A board member will be bringing pizzas to our Cold lake Trinity United Church.
“You can go to the United Church Camp our Facebook page. Our contacts are on there and we just had our meeting about our subsidy program committee so we will have people in place to contact and talk with the people that need support and we will have our process of getting those people to camp,” said Tetlock.
