Chamber of Commerce decides on new home on Main Street

The Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce has chosen a new home.

In a press release on Thursday, the Chamber said they decided to purchase a location on Main Street at 5014 50 Avenue, located right next to Lakeland Credit Union.

The M.D. of Bonnyville had required them to move from the Shaw House, where the Chamber had been located for 20 years.

After reviewing the various spaces around town, they said they landed on this location.

“We are truly excited to have a place to call home located close to the businesses we passionately serve,” said Serina Parsons, Executive Director of the Chamber, in the release. “It was a tough decision, but once we viewed all the possibilities, this aligned with our strategic growth and priorities.”

They found looking for a space challenge, and to help with accessibility concerns, they will be working with local contractors and applying for grants that will help ensure the space is open to all.

The Chamber will vacate the Shaw House by the end of August and, because of the relocation, will not be available for public bookings effective immediately.

“It was a tough yet exciting decision. This building is not perfect and currently has some accessibility issues, which is an important consideration for us; however, in relation to other available locations, this one met our needs for both space and cost,” added Parsons.

The visitor information centre (VIC) has been operated by the Chamber in the past. The M.D. will operate it out of the main administration office located on Main Street through the summer months. That change will take effect on June 13.

In the future, Shaw House bookings will be at the discretion of the M.D. staff who will reside within the facility, the Chamber says.

“We would like to thank the M.D. of Bonnyville for their continued support and understanding as we transition to our new home.”
