Assumption School closed for in-person classes until next week due to outbreak
Assumption School is closed to in-person classes until February 24 after positive COVID cases.
On Monday, the school was open for parents to pick up the needed technology for at-home learning which is scheduled until next Wednesday.
The junior high and high school is listed on Alberta Health’s school status map online as having an outbreak, which means there are between 5-9 active cases linked to the school.
Assumption School was thoroughly sanitized on Thursday, February 11, school officials said, and sat empty from Friday to Sunday over the weekend.
In-person classes are set to resume on Thursday, February 25.
The province’s latest COVID numbers, updated on Feb. 13, says there are 27 active cases in the City of Cold Lake.
Also listed under “alert” status, is Light of Christ Catholic School and J.A. Williams High School in Lac La Biche, which have between 2-4 cases.
E.H. Walter School in Paradise Valley, 70 kilometres southeast of Vermilion, is also listed under alert status.
Ashmont School reported on Monday that a student tested positive as well.
