Active cases fall slightly on Friday in the Lakeland

Active cases of COVID-19 in the Lakeland have dropped slightly on Friday.

In the St. Paul-Saddle Lake “local geographic area” on the AHS virus data map, seven new cases have been reported, but active cases feel by six. There are 82 active cases on Friday with 169 recoveries.

Saddle Lake News, Events, and Information page reported three new cases on Thursday with one active case in hospital. There are 32 active cases and 139 recoveries as of Nov. 26.

There are four new recoveries in the Cold Lake area and two new cases. There are 62 active cases and 50 recovered in Cold Lake’s local geographic area.

Bonnyville’s local area has seen zero new infections and four new recoveries on Friday for a total of 24 active cases and 54 recoveries. Kehewin Communications reported more recoveries on Thursday, with nine active cases and 33 recovered.

The provincial government announced that Bonnyville and St. Paul will be part of a pilot project to try rapid testing in early December.

In the Lac La Biche area, there is three new cases, leaving 31 active cases and 17 recoveries.

Four new cases are seen in the Smoky Lake area with 16 active and 24 recovered.

No new cases in the Two Hills area after an increase yesterday. There are six active cases, 22 recovered, and one death. there.

Vermilion River County area has seven active cases with 29 recoveries and one death. However, there are just five cases within the municipality.

1,227 new cases

On Friday, chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw reported 1,227 new positive tests after just over 16,000.

Hospitalizations continue to rise in the province. There are 405 in hospital with 86 of those in intensive care.

Nine new COVID-related deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, 519 total.

The provincial positivity rate is currently 7.6 per cent, said Dr. Hinshaw.
