Several community groups scheduled at Bonnyville town council

A series of delegations from community groups are expected for tonight’s Bonnyville town council meeting.

Eight parties including organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, Primary Care Network, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and recreation groups like the Curling Club, Gear Grabbers, Bonnyville Pontiacs, Extreme Mudfest, and Riverland Trail Society are scheduled to appear in front of council on Tuesday evening.

This follows a string of delegations at the last town council meeting on Sept. 22 which saw financial updates from the town’s stakeholders like the Centennial Centre, SPCA, FCSS, Museum, and Library, while tabling any other additional funding requests.

Town council typically receives delegations from these parties in the fall, as staff and elected officials prepare drafts for a 2021 budget, although the motivation for these specific delegations is not yet known.

There is expected to be cost pressures heading into the next budget with unanticipated overages on the regional waterline, a subject that is scheduled for the closed session of Tuesday’s meeting.
