Vermilion residents can’t wait for September 1 when the Upper Level Pottery & Art Gallery is set open downtown.

The new gallery will be located in the Craig’s Cornerstone building and will feature local artists of all kinds.

Metal, soapstone carving, woodwork, mixed media, acrylic painting, and copper jewellery can all be found at Upper Level. More pieces will roll in as they continue to set up shop.

Owner, Heather Millan, said the timing worked out well. She has always loved the arts and now as a potter, much of her work has been left sitting in boxes in the garage. She said having a gallery never seemed feasible until recently.

“The support I’ve had to put this together has been incredible,” said Millan.

“A big thank you to my husband, Kevin, who has dropped renovations at home to build the pedestals and display cabinets.”

The gallery will host meet the artist events and exhibits with the Vermilion Art Club. All of the artwork is for sale, so she will continue to bring other artists in as time goes on.

“Art brings peace and fills my heart. I look forward to spending time here and connecting with like-minded people,” said Millan.
