Seniors connecting again in Lac La Biche

Lac La Biche FCSS has the seniors meetup group, Coffee and Connection, up and running again.

Due to COVID-19, the Coffee and Connection weekly program had to be cancelled.

A regular to the group, Pollyanna Zinck, is grateful to have the Thursday conversations back again.

When it was cancelled, we really ended up missing the people in this group that we got to sit and visit with,” said Zinck.

“The first one back was really good, everyone seemed to have a smile on their face, and enjoyed sitting around and visiting.”

The group is for seniors to have open conversations about a wide range of topics. Last week, the group talked about sports, politics, and the differences they see in the world today compared to when they were younger.

Zinck likes the Thursday morning discussions because of the eclectic mix of people that show up every week.

“Around the table there are people from different areas, different occupations, and all with different opinions, and so I find it extremely interesting,” said Zinck.

The differences between them all, however, don’t get in the way of the seniors enjoying themselves.

“Everybody is agreeable, everybody has a chance to express their opinion, we have not had any arguments, and we have had a few good laughs,” said Zinck.

The seniors group meets every Thursdays from 10:00-11:00am at the Tea Room in McArthur Place. To join the group, register by calling 780-623-6726.
