Two active COVID-19 cases in the Cold Lake area as of Sunday, 247 new cases in Alberta

There are two active cases of COVID-19 in the Cold Lake area on Sunday, as an additional case has been detected by the province.

After having three total cases resolved since April 7, on Wednesday a case of COVID-19 was reported active in the Cold Lake area on the Alberta Government’s virus map.

Alberta Health spokesperson, Tom McMillan, did not rule at the time whether a person was showing symptoms again, or whether it was a data error, and said that they do not report on specific cases due to patient confidentiality.

Now, there are two active cases of the virus in the Cold Lake area and two recovered.

Otherwise, there remains one active case in the County of St. Paul area and one in the Vermilion River County area.

The M.D. of Bonnyville area has had seven total, all of which are reported to be recovered.

247 new cases reported

On Sunday, the province reported 247 new cases of COVID-19 for a total of 4,480.

Recoveries have increased to 1,549.

There are currently 83 people in hospital, of which 20 of have been admitted into intensive care.

Four-hundred sixty cases are suspected of being community-acquired.

The total deaths are 73: 46 in the Calgary zone; 14 in the North zone; 10 in the Edmonton zone; two in the South zone; and one in the Central zone.

In the last 24 hours, 4,407 tests have been completed.

  • 598 cases in the South zone
  • 479 cases in the Edmonton zone
  • 182 cases in the North zone
  • 83 cases in the Central zone
  • 34 cases in zones yet to be confirmed
