Bonnyville RCMP Investigate Fatal Collision

Vehicle struck when attempting to pass a snow plow

This morning at approximately 8:45 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 660 north of Bonnyville. A pick-up truck travelling westbound attempted to pass a vehicle and a snow plow then collided with an oncoming pick-up truck travelling eastbound head on.

The driver of the eastbound truck, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by EMS. The driver of the westbound truck, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Traffic was re-routed around the collision scene for several hours while police and an RCMP collision analyst investigated.

There will be no charges laid regarding this collision. Poor visibility and weather are considered contributing factors.

No further updates will be provided and the deceased’s name will not be released.

Bonnyville RCMP are asking motorist’s to avoid any unnecessary travel in the area at this time due to weather and road conditions.
