The nation-wide KidSport program provides financial assistance so kids from low income families can participate in a season a sport. Through a confidential application process, grants are provided that will fund up to $300.00 per child annually towards sport registration fees. Currently, there are over 15 applications waiting for funding.
KidSport Bonnyville has been has assisting low-income families register their kids in sports since 1995 and, with the support of the KidSport Alberta office, a local committee was reborn in January 2011. With the motto “so all kids can play” as motivation, the volunteer group has worked extremely hard for the past 6 years to get local kids off the sideline and into the game. As a result, KidSport Bonnyville was selected from the 37 chapters in the province as Chapter of the Year, in both 2012 and 2015, recognizing their outstanding efforts.
