May 4th is International Firefighters Day
International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4th. On this date, we remember the firefighters who have died while serving our community or dedicated their lives to protecting the safety of us all. We also show support and appreciation to the firefighters worldwide who continue to protect us throughout the year.
A firefighter’s role can often be long, dangerous and difficult. They are required to think quickly and clearly, act decisively and provide help amid scenes of trauma, tragedy and personal risk.
IFFD is a day to thank past and present firefighters for their extraordinary commitment, exceptional courage and their selfless service.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all the members of Alberta’s fire service for your dedication, service and commitment. Thank you.
