NLSD Associate Superintendent Ron Taylor has Resigned
Ron Taylor, Associate Superintendent for Northern Lights School Divisions’ First Nations Metis Inuit (FNMI) Services, has resigned his postion with NLSD to accept a position with the province. Taylor will be serving as a senior management position with Alberta Educations FNMI branch.
In a statement released by NLSD, the division thanks Taylor for years of service.
Ron brought a unique perspective to the table that will be missed by all of his colleagues in Northern Lights. He is a strong advocate for students, particularly FNMI students, and we look forward to working with him in his new role. – Rick Cusson Superintendent Northern Lights School Division No. 69
Taylo, who spent several year’s as the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for the Division, took on a new role with NLSD this school year as FNMI Services. Taylor’s resignation came over the Christmas break and was effective January 4th, which has left the Division with a vacant spot. However, as part of the Three Year Education Plan put in place by NLSD, the Division has began reviewing its organizational structure and how the structure plays into the priorities of the Division. Due to this review process, NLSD has decided not to fill the vacant position at this time.
We are looking at our priorities and all of the initiatives we have underway to determine what structure will work best for us moving forward. We are also looking at succession planning and the impact upcoming retirements will have. Our goal is to create a structure that aligns with our priorities and provides our staff and students with the supports they need to succeed.
