With cherished memories for a beautiful life lived, the family of Phyllis Mary Stratton of Cherry Grove, Alberta is saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the age of 83 years.
Phyllis was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by hard work, determination, a sense of adventure and a genuine care for others. Throughout her life, she wore many hats, working as a sailor, dairy farmer, semi truck driver, rancher, traveller, entrepreneur, model, horsewoman, and sea urchin transporter—and she could even land a plane, though taking off was another story! Phyllis was deeply passionate about health, wellness, and nutrition, especially from the time her children were born. She and Gary became well known throughout the cruising community, and Phyllis had a wonderful ability to make friends nearly everywhere they went, finding a friendly face in almost every port they visited. Her adventurous spirit, many talents, and warm nature made for a life filled with unforgettable experiences and meaningful connections.
Phyllis is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Gary Stratton; children: Randal (Toni) Stratton, Cathrin (Ernie) Fisher, Mark Daniel (Norma) Stratton, Jill Stratton; grandchildren: Josh Stratton (Andie Ursaki), Danielle Stratton, Trevor Stratton (Andrea Whatley), Mark Stratton, Jessica Stratton, Johnathan Stratton (Megan Ng), Kristina Stratton (Chris Tohill), Lindsey Stratton (Kieran Mckee), Hannah Fisher (Aksum Polk), Sarah Fisher; treasured great grandchildren: Gracie Boyle, Ginny Boyle, Genavieve Boyle, Piper Stratton, Noah Stratton, Sage Stratton, Hudson Tohill, Felix Stratton; brother: Herb (Sherri) Picoski; sister: Paulette (Arthur) Rose; Phyllis will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents: Phillip & Mary Picoski; brothers: John Picoski, Mike Picoski.
Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake, Alberta with Father Limneo Zamora as Celebrant (eulogy starting at 10:50 a.m.). For those wishing to pay their respects, there will be a viewing at the church starting at 10:00 a.m.
Final Resting Place, St. Dominic Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cold Lake, Alberta.
