It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Smith announces her passing on September 8, 2026, at the age of 86 years. Mary was born and raised in Elk Point, Alberta, a community that would always hold a special place in her heart. She spent much of her adult life at Siebert Lake, Alberta, where she embraced the simple country life she loved. Mary found happiness in farming cattle, raising chickens, and enjoying the quiet beauty and everyday pleasures of rural life. In her final years, Mary returned home to Elk Point to be closer to her family and friends, whose company and love meant so much to her.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ronald (Teresa), Tammy (Joe) Singer, Robert (Sherry), Roger (Deena), and Tanya (Edward) Beniuk; her brother, Edward; as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and friends. Mary was predeceased by the love of her life and husband, Gerald; her sons, baby Ray and Reg; her brother, Harry; parents, Edward & Helena (nee Roth); her special friend, Everett Campbell.
Mary will be remembered for the life she built, the family she loved, and the many memories made around her. Her roots ran deep in the Elk Point area, and her love of family, friends, and the simple joys of country living remained with her throughout her life.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Elk Point Senior’s Center (Pioneer Circle), Elk Point. Pastor Kelly Sibley will be officiating, with internment at Elk Point West Cemetery, Elk Point. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Haying in the 30’s (Cancer support society), ℅ 5626- 51 Street, St.Paul, AB T0A 3A1 – a charity that was very special to her. Mary volunteered with the organization on occasion and, while her health allowed, looked forward to attending the event each year.
