In Loving Memory: Albin Leaf – Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel

Albin Leaf

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend, Albin Leaf. On August 26, 2026, he passed away at the age of 70 years. Although a quiet man, we can describe Albin in many ways: an outdoorsman, fisherman and nature lover; a “girl-dad”; a woodworking artist; an avid hockey fan (if there was a Montreal Canadiens or Oilers game on, you could bet he was watching); a prolific gardener; an exceptional mathematician; a knowledgeable forager; an inventive baker; and an amateur and enthusiastic meteorologist. He was a man of many interests, pursuits, and talents.

Al marked his friendships in decades. Once he decided you were a part of his circle, you were in it for the long run. His circle was open too: he welcomed friends of his girls’ as well as new neighbours.
Albin took joy in visiting and connecting with family and friends from near and far. Those who knew Albin will remember that he found happiness in the simple things, content to play a game of crib, walk in the garden, or sit back and watch family and friends visit around the campfire.

Albin is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gayle; children, Melanie (Nic) Thomlison, Amanda (Brett) Scherlie, Stephanie (Mason) Earle, Seanna-Joye (Tanner) Shankowski, & Olivia Rose Leaf (Drew);
grandchildren, Clark & Kate, Barrett, & Baby Shankowski on the way;sister, Marlene (John) Malachowski & family; parents-in-law, Gordon & Deanna Fakeley; sister-in-law, Melanie (Trevor) & family; brother-in-law, Carl (Jennifer) & family; numerous cousins, & dear friends. Albin was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Dina Leaf; mother of Melanie, Amanda, & Stephanie, Laurian Wilde; nephew, Justin Malachowski.

Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Angle Lake Community Cemetery. (Two miles West of Hwy 41 on Twp Rd 552 – please click on the
