With sorrow the family of Howard Fleming, announces his passing on August 7, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 65 years.
Howard lived his life with a warm and friendly spirit that touched his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He was a man who valued simple pleasures and meaningful connections, and he carried himself with a sturdiness that made others feel safe. Whether he was sharing a conversation, enjoying a good cup of coffee, or spending time with the people he loved most, Howard brought sincerity and steadiness to every moment.
Howard spent many years working in the oilfield, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. His work history was an important part of his story, but it was his character that truly defined him.
Howard is lovingly remembered by the mother of his children, Connie Kachmar, his sons, Jess Fleming (Leah) of Edmonton, Daniel Fleming of Edmonton, and Dakota Fleming of Owl River. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughters, Violet Joy and Virginia Faye Fleming, who brought him great pride and joy.
Howard is survived by his sisters, Holly (Dave) Mielke, Shelly (Ken) Hutchison, Marcy MacEachern, and brother, Sheldon (Meghan) Fleming, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many friends.
Howard was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Andy Fleming, and by his beloved grandparents, Jess and Fay Erickson.
Howard found joy in the outdoors and in the routines that made life meaningful. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and riding his hog, and he appreciated the peace and freedom that came with time spent outside. He also loved gardening (especially with his grand daughters) and the vegetables that came from it, finding satisfaction in wiping the soil from the harvest and in sharing the rewards of that work with family. More than anything, he valued time with his family, and those gatherings, conversations, and everyday moments will be remembered as some of the most treasured parts of his life.
