The Lea Park Rodeo returns this weekend north of Marwayne, with festivities beginning Friday evening and running through Sunday.
Visitors can expect an increased law enforcement presence throughout the weekend, including the RCMP, Alberta Sheriffs and County of Vermilion River Public Safety Officers.
Motorists are reminded that temporary speed reductions are in effect near Jubilee Park. The speed limit has been lowered from 100 km/h to 80 km/h and then to 50 km/h approaching the rodeo grounds. Drivers are asked to watch for posted signs, electronic message boards and increased traffic entering and leaving the area.
Officials also note there is currently no fire ban in effect, meaning campfires are permitted. However, a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for the region, and attendees are encouraged to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend.
The Lea Park Rodeo officially gets underway Friday night and continues through Sunday afternoon.
