On May 19, 2026, Ennis William Cardinal of Saddle Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his children, Gary, Cal (Mona), Shelley & Louis; adopted children, Sheldon (Tanis), Chantel (Draydon) & Maria (Curtis); numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; siblings, Maryanne (Doug) Bearhat & Cherrilene Steinhauer; aunts, Rita & Audrey Steinhauer, Josephine & Eva Cardinal; uncle, Arnold (Theresa) Steinhauer; special niece, Loretta Steinhauer; special friends, Celina Wanuch, Brent (Shauna) Sawatzky, Darcy Houle, Marshall (Alison) Hopkins & Joyce (Kurtis); mother of his children, Irene; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Ennis was predeceased by his parents, Ralph & Regina Cardinal; paternal grandparents, Lloyd & Emma; maternal grandparents, Joshua & Matilda; 4 siblings in infancy; brother-in-law, Raymond Steinhauer; uncles, Willy Ray, Noah & Henry; grandson, Rodney Cardinal; great-grandson, Joseph Cardinal; special nephew, Cody Hodgson; dogs, Shep & Blue. A Wake will be held on Tuesday, May 26 (leaving Grace Gardens at 1:00 p.m.) at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. A Traditional Funeral Service led by Elders will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre with interment in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Saddle Lake.
