Northland School Division (NSD) is congratulating J.F. Dion School educator Meaghean Lehr after she was selected as the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) Zone 1 Edwin Parr Teacher Award recipient.
The Edwin Parr Teacher Award recognizes first-year teachers who demonstrate outstanding dedication and commitment in education. Lehr is the fourth NSD educator to receive the Zone 1 honour.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we congratulate Meaghean on being selected as the 2026 Alberta School Boards Association Zone 1 Edwin Parr Teacher Award recipient,” said Board Chair Tanya Fayant. “This is a proud moment for Meaghean, J.F. Dion School, Fishing Lake Métis Settlement and Northland School Division. Meaghean’s dedication to students and her connection to culture are clear in her work. We appreciate the care and effort she brings to helping students learn and grow.”

Superintendent of Schools and CEO Cal Johnson said Lehr has already made a significant impact in the classroom.
“Being selected as the Alberta School Boards Association Zone 1 Edwin Parr Teacher Award recipient is an outstanding achievement,” said Johnson. “Meaghean has made a strong impact at J.F. Dion School in a short time. She builds strong relationships with students and brings culture into the classroom in a meaningful way. Meaghean reflects our priority of connections supporting truth and reconciliation. We are proud to have her represent Northland School Division.”
The announcement was made during the ASBA Edwin Parr and Friends of Education Awards Banquet on May 13 in Peace River.
Northland School Division says Lehr will also be recognized during its Long Service Awards on May 22 and again alongside other Edwin Parr Teacher Award recipients during the ASBA Fall General Meeting in Edmonton from Nov. 15–17, 2026.
