Lakeland Catholic School Division is pleased to share that Joe Marion, Principal of École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School, has been selected as a recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award presented by the Council for School Leadership (CSL) of the Alberta Teachers’ Association.

This provincial recognition reflects the strong leadership and school environment that families experience each day at École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School.

At École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School, Joe is known for his consistent presence and the clarity he brings to his role. He works closely with students, staff, and families, ensuring the school operates with purpose and focus each day. His leadership reflects a strong balance of high expectations and meaningful support, creating an environment where students are challenged in their learning and supported in developing confidence and independence. Rooted in Catholic education, Joe leads by example, fostering a school culture where all students are known, supported to succeed.

Emma, a student from Dr. Brosseau, shared:

“Mr. Marion is a really kind and welcoming person who makes everyone feel important and included. His strong Catholic faith reflects in the way he treats people by showing them kindness and respect. He always listens to students and supports them, which makes our school a safe and better place to be. We are so lucky to have a principal like him.”

“Joe’s leadership reflects the core principles of Catholic education,” remarked Superintendent Sheldon Germain.

“He demonstrates a clear and consistent commitment to student success, staff support, and the overall strength of the school community. His faith is evident in his leadership—shaping a learning environment where students are both supported and challenged to achieve. Under Joe’s leadership, École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School continues to offer a strong and well-supported grades 5-8 experience for students and families, where academic growth, faith development, and a sense of belonging are prioritized.

Joe will be formally recognized at the Council for School Leadership Distinguished Leadership Awards Gala on May 29, 2026, in Edmonton.
