Cold Lake Elementary is turning its school fence into something special this week — and the entire community is invited.

Students are taking over the fence along 8th Street with a colourful outdoor art gallery, created as a heartfelt thank you to the people who keep Cold Lake running every day.

A Creative Thank You to the Community

From police officers and healthcare workers to coaches, volunteers and seniors, the project is meant to recognize the everyday efforts that often go unnoticed.

And this isn’t just an art display.

Every piece is free to take home.

The goal is simple: spread appreciation and brighten someone’s day with a student-made masterpiece.

When and Where to Visit

The Cold Lake Elementary Fence Art Takeover runs:

  • May 6 and 7
  • Along the 8th Street fence at Cold Lake Elementary School

Visitors are welcome to stop by anytime, but those wanting to see students in action are encouraged to come during outdoor recess:

  • 10:05 to 10:20 am
  • 12:20 to 12:50 pm

Some classes will also be outside in the afternoon.

More Than Just Art

The event is part of Mental Health Week, tying into the message of connection, kindness and community support.

It’s a simple idea with a big impact — giving students a chance to express gratitude while creating meaningful moments for those who receive their art.

A Little Joy, No Strings Attached

There’s no cost, no sign-up and no catch.

Just stop by, take a walk along the fence and pick a piece that speaks to you.

It’s a small gesture from local students — but one that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
