Alberta RCMP is asking drivers to slow down and watch for volunteers during the province-wide highway cleanup on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
The cleanup runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. along provincial highways. If weather gets in the way, the alternate date is May 9, 2026.
More than 12,000 participants are expected to take part, including about 8,000 children from 4-H Clubs, Junior Forest Wardens and other youth groups.
Volunteers will be wearing safety vests, with caution signs posted near cleanup areas.
RCMP says there will be added patrols on provincial highways to enforce traffic safety and prevent speeding in marked cleanup zones. Drivers are asked to slow down, stay alert and watch for extra foot traffic.
