Unofficial results from the Town of Bonnyville’s 2026 municipal byelection show Yvonne Szydlik in the lead following Monday’s vote.
According to the preliminary count, Szydlik received 205 votes, the highest total among the five candidates.
Michael Procinsky finished second with 102 votes, followed by Kelly Wood with 80. Christine (Tina) Michaud received 56 votes, while Jack Midgley recorded 32.
Low turnout in five-candidate race
A total of 485 ballots were cast out of 4,486 eligible voters, resulting in a voter turnout of just under 10 per cent.
The byelection was held to fill the vacant council seat following the passing of Councillor Brian McEvoy earlier this year.
Results remain unofficial
The results are currently unofficial and will be confirmed by the Town of Bonnyville following the official count.
Once confirmed, the successful candidate will join council and take part in upcoming municipal decisions, including budget planning and community development initiatives.
