Residents in the Town of Bonnyville will head to the polls later this month to elect a new councillor following the passing of Councillor Brian McEvoy earlier this year.
The byelection is being held to fill the vacant seat after McEvoy’s death in early February.
The official list of candidates was confirmed following the mandatory 24-hour waiting period, with five names on the ballot:
▪️ Christine (Tina) Michaud
▪️ Jack Midgley
▪️ Michael Procinsky
▪️ Yvonne Szydlik
▪️ Kelly Woods
Voting will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Town Administration Office, located at 4917 – 49 Avenue, inside Council Chambers.
Polls will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
An advance poll will also be held at the same location, giving residents an opportunity to vote ahead of election day.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must:
▪️ Be at least 18 years old
▪️ Be a Canadian citizen
▪️ Reside in the Town of Bonnyville
Voters will also be required to present acceptable identification when casting their ballot.
Residents will also have an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates ahead of election day.

The Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2026 Municipal Election Town Hall Candidates Forum on April 9, 2026 at the ACFA Hall, located at 4904–50 Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the forum beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions and learn more about the candidates. Questions can be submitted in advance to admin@bonnyvillechamber.com.
The forum will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
The byelection marks an important moment for the community, as residents choose who will step into the role and help guide decisions at the council table moving forward.
