According to Alberta RCMP, Dale Delorme was convicted by Justice Kent J. Teskey in the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta on March 6, 2026. Delorme remains in custody. The matter is scheduled to return to court on April 10, 2026, when a sentencing date is expected to be set.
Case dates back to 2020 homicide
The charge stemmed from the killing of 40-year-old Aubrey Skelding of Cold Lake.
RCMP said officers responded on August 18, 2020 at about 2:10 a.m. to a report that a woman had been shot inside a residence on Cold Lake First Nation. Skelding was found dead at the scene.

Arrest made in 2021
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit later announced that Delorme had been arrested on March 21, 2021.
At the time, police said the 55-year-old from Cold Lake was charged with one count of second-degree murder and remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing.
Sentencing process still ahead
With the guilty verdict now entered, the case will move into the sentencing phase.
Delorme remains in custody while the matter heads back before the court on April 10.
