County of St. Paul – The County of St. Paul has cancelled approximately ,320 in unpaid insurance invoices after learning the Frog Lake Community Club no longer requires coverage through the municipality.

The issue had previously come before council after administration reported the club had not paid its premiums for two years and attempts to make contact had been unsuccessful.

Since then, the County was able to connect with the organization.

Council heard the club indicated it no longer needed the coverage and believed notice had previously been provided to the County.

Administration said it could not find any record of that notice arriving by email or mail.

That left council with two years of unpaid invoices and the question of whether there was any realistic chance of collecting them.

Council also questioned whether the organization had remained insured during the period.

“So they were still covered the whole time?” one councillor asked.

Administration acknowledged the situation but said the outstanding balance had essentially reached the point where recovery was unlikely.

“I think at this point it’s a non-collectible amount,” council was told.

The total outstanding amount was confirmed during the meeting at approximately $4,320.

Council ultimately approved cancelling the invoices for the two outstanding policy years and removing the Frog Lake Community Club from the County’s insurance policy.
