City Approves CRACH Grants and Policy Updates
Cold Lake Council has approved two new community grants and updated funding limits under its Community Recreation, Art, Culture, and Heritage Investment Grant program.
The decisions were made at the February 10 Council meeting following recommendations from the Community Grant Advisory Committee.
Grants Approved
Two local initiatives will receive sponsorship funding:
▪️ Cold Lake Minor Hockey Association – $6,000 to host the U15B Provincial Championship in March.
▪️ James Purdy o/a MS Ain’t Purdy – $3,000 to support the 2026 Skijoring for MS event at the Agricultural Society Exhibition Park.
The Community Grant Advisory Committee reviews all applications to ensure they meet program criteria before making recommendations to Council.
“We appreciate the hard work the committee does,” said Mayor Bob Mattice. “The group meets monthly in order to make sure our local organizations can apply and be approved for funding in a timely manner.”
Policy Changes Approved
Council also approved updates to the CRACH grant policy to clarify language and adjust funding limits.
Key changes include:
▪️ Travel Grant (4.3.4) – Changed from “Up to a maximum of $750 per individual per calendar year” to “Up to a maximum grant of $2,500 per organization per year.”
▪️ Arts, Culture, and Heritage Grant (4.3.7) – Updated to “Up to a maximum of $3,000 per organization per calendar year,” removing the previous $1,500 cap for outcome-based programs.
