Bonnyville Baseball Coach Charged in Internet Child Exploitation Investigation
A Bonnyville minor baseball coach is facing serious charges following an internet child exploitation investigation.
Michel “Mitch” Michaud, 48, was arrested on Jan. 28. He has been charged with possession, access and distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, along with one count of bestiality.
Investigation Began Last Year
Police say they received multiple reports in 2025 indicating child sexual abuse and exploitation material had been uploaded and shared online. An investigation into Michaud began in November.
Several electronic devices, including a cell phone and a laptop, were seized. A forensic examination of those devices is still pending.
No Players Believed to Be Involved
Michaud was a coach with the Bonnyville Braves, a minor league baseball team.
Investigators say there is no reason at this time to believe any players were involved. However, the investigation remains ongoing.
Release Conditions
Michaud has been released on court-ordered conditions. Those conditions include not seeking or maintaining any volunteer or employment position involving anyone under the age of 16.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 24.
As with all criminal matters before the courts, the charges have not been proven.
