Property Crimes, Traffic Complaints Dominate August in Vermilion

Vermilion RCMP fielded 288 calls for service during the month of August 2025. The majority of calls were traffic or vehicle-related, with property and persons crimes also making up a significant portion.

Breakdown of Calls

  • Traffic/vehicle complaints: 121

  • Property crimes: 59

    • 22 mischiefs (damage to property or obstructing lawful enjoyment)

    • 7 break and enters

    • 16 thefts

    • 4 frauds

    • 3 vehicle thefts

  • Persons crimes: 24

  • Traffic collisions: 16

  • Suspicious persons/vehicles: 11

  • Spousal abuse: 7

  • Mental health concerns: 8

Charges and Penalties

In total, Vermilion RCMP laid 52 charges in August:

  • 26 under the Criminal Code

  • 26 under provincial offences

Of the criminal charges:

  • 1 was for failing to comply with court conditions

  • 16 were tied to property crimes

  • 7 were related to persons crimes

In addition, three drivers received administrative penalties for impaired driving.
