On September 14, 2025, Matilda “Girlie” Brertton of Saddle Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 60 years. She is survived by her children, CJ Brertton (Nakita), Lyle “Beanz” Brertton, Melody “Pretty” Favel,  Angel Favel, Starline “Big Doo” Cryer, Lloyd Quinney & Ricky Cryer; grandchildren, Noah, Nolan, Easton, Talayla, Talon “John”, Kinsley, Gabby & Lyle Jr.; siblings, Carolyn Steinhauer (Buddy), Jason Steinhauer, Rita Favel, Coreen Crane, Janice Cryer, Victoria White, Thomas Quinney & Ira Swindler (Max Horse); kokum, Barbara Moses; special aunties, Gloria Moosewah & Mavis (Robert) Dasilva; special uncles, Victor Houle, Brian Large, Cameron Mason (Cynthia Quinney); numerous other relatives & friends. Matilda was predeceased by her son, Lindsay Brertton; parents, Austin Quinney & Bertha Brertton; brothers, Colin & William Brertton, William Quinney, Phillip Favel, Tony Quinney; sister, Connie Jackson; special aunties, Bella Favel & Rita Quinney; uncles, Tony Brertton, John Brertton, Emile Brertton & Lindsay Brertton; kokum, Florence Large.  A Wake will be held on Monday,  September 22 (leaving Grace Gardens at 2:00 p.m.) &Tuesday, September 23 at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake.  A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake.
