WATCH: Drought conditions hitting Lakeland families hard

Published On: August 5, 2025By

On Friday, Lakeland Connect was invited by M.D. of Bonnyville Reeve Barry Kalinski to get a firsthand look at how the drought conditions are hurting producers in the Lakeland.

Kalinski took Michael Menzies to three cattle and grain farms in La Corey and Iron River area where some producers are making arrangements for a very poor return this year.

Previously, the M.D. declared a state of municipal agricultural disaster, but they are just one of many municipalities in Alberta that are being hit hard with the uncertain summer weather.

We hear from Kevin Picray, Derek Babb, and Murray Scott to see how they’re holding up.
