Bonnyville Hold & Secure measures prompted by unfounded gun complaint, no threat to public: RCMP

Several schools in Bonnyville, daycares and child centres, were put into Hold & Secure measures on Friday afternoon for approximately 60-90 minutes at the request of the Bonnyville RCMP.

This was because of an unfounded gun complaint, Bonnyville RCMP said at 3:08PM.

“On May 30, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a complaint of a female with a firearm.

“As a precaution, a few businesses, including a school, were placed in a hold and secure. Investigation has revealed that this complaint is unfounded. There is no threat to anyone.

“No further updates will follow.”

The facilities included Duclos, H.E. Bourgoin, Bonnyville Centralized High, Notre Dame Elementary, Dr. Brosseau, Notre Dame High, the Ohana Centre, and daycare at the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre.
