David Merko will next appear in Bonnyville court on June 3.

The 62-year-old man believed to have smashed five police vehicles with a stolen trackhoe, which made national news, appeared in Bonnyville court last Tuesday, May 20.

A crown election request has been sought after for the June appearance.

Merko first appeared after being remanded into custody on May 6.

He faces several charges, including six counts of mischief over $5,000, break and enter, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, two charges of resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and one count of uttering threats, related to an April incident.

Merko allegedly phoned a Saskatchewan RCMP detachment and threatened to kill officers.
